Post presidential elections: NOA urges decorum, readiness for March 9 elections
Following the completion of the 2019 Federal Elections and the announcement of winners, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and orderly, irrespective of their political persuasions while getting set for the March 9, 2019 State Elections and Area Council Elections in the Federal Capital Territory.
Director General of NOA, Dr. Garba Abari in a statement congratulated Nigerians for successful Presidential and National Assembly Elections and their patriotic participation in the elections. He however noted that the General Elections were not yet over; urging Nigerians to stay focused and avoid over-exuberant and reckless celebration of electoral victories.
He commended Nigerians for keeping faith with democracy as shown in the huge sacrifices they made to participate in the February 23, 2019 Federal Elections, despite the earlier postponement. With the results announced, he admonished that insensitive utterances, hate speech and fake news capable of inflaming passions and disrupting the peace be avoided while urging persons and parties aggrieved by the outcome of the elections to take advantage of available means of legal redress.
He implored all eligible voters, particularly those who did not participate in the Federal Elections, to turn out en masse and perform their civic responsibility of voting in the coming Governorship, State Assembly and FCT Area Council Elections.
