Gov. Wike urges military to curb insecurity
Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has urged security agencies to curb insecurity.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, the governor spoke when the new General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Maj.-Gen. Olu Irefin, visited him at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Wike also said that Rivers State enjoyed collaboration between his administration and security agencies.
“Our determination is to keep the state safe but development also attracts criminality, so we can’t say we are totally free. There are still pockets of criminal elements. So, as a professional whose role is to defend the territorial integrity of the country, fight crime and do not involve in politics.
“We are willing to partner you as a government because security is important for us. Just let us know what you require to succeed in the fight. That way, we will be partners in progress and make the state safe for all”, Wike stated.
While pledging to sustain the collaboration in protecting life and property, Gen. Irefin aid that his commanders testified to enjoying support from the government.
He praised Wike for his development initiatives.
