Imo Rep call for cancellation of constituency result over irregularities
Member of the House of Representatives from Imo State, Rep. Kingsley Uju, has called for the cancellation of the Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta and Oru federal constituency over alleged irregularities.
The lawmaker also called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to come to his aid that his life and that of his family were being threatened by the Imo state government.
The lawmaker also accused the state government under Senator Hope Uzodinma of being behind attacks threatening his life.
He alleged that he has been attacked three times until the eve of the election.
The first time lawmaker equally demanded cancellation of the election in his constituency, saying the process was full of irregularities.
The following statements were made while addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, the lawmaker said elections did not hold in some wards within his constituency, and so no results should be accepted from the areas.
He also cautioned the nation’s electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be wary of persons they recruit as Ad hoc staff members during its elections.
Reports were that the lawmakers suffered attacks in his hometown, where he luckily escaped alive.
According to him, there had been a a commander of a special team of the Nigeria Police, one inspector Chika Akwabata who was being used by the state government to intimidate his supporters
“I appeal to the Inspector General of Police to help stop the intimidation of my supporters. I also want the police to investigate who led the operations against me on Friday”, he said.
