Abbas mourns Islamic scholar, Abubakar Giro Argungu
The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D has expressed sadness over the death of a renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abubakar Giro Argungu.
Abbas said that he was heartbroken by the news of the demise of Sheikh Argungu, describing the late Islamic scholar as a dogmatic preacher who used the pulpit to propagate Islam within and outside Nigeria.
The passing away of the Kebbi-based Islamic scholar, Abbas said, was as painful as it was devastating, noting that Sheikh Argungu was one of the finest Islamic clerics in Nigeria.
He said the Islamic world, especially Nigerian Muslims, has lost one of its leading voices with the death of Sheikh Argungu.
Speaker Abbas sent heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Kebbi State, especially the people of Argungu Local Government Area where the late cleric hailed from.
He also commiserated with the national leadership of the Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Nigeria, where Sheikh Argungu was a leading figure, over the loss.
While praying for the repose of the soul of the late cleric, Abbas prayed that the Almighty Allah would make Jannatul Firdaus as Sheikh Argungu’s final abode.
