Defence Minister applauds DEPOWA college project as symbol of commitment to nation-building
The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has lauded the proposed Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) College Project, describing it as a testament to the unwavering commitment of military and police families to nation-building.
Speaking during the ground-breaking and fundraising ceremony for the college in Abuja, the Minister praised DEPOWA’s visionary leadership and reaffirmed the Ministry’s support for the initiative.
“This initiative embodies the unwavering commitment of our military and police families to nation-building. I commend DEPOWA for its visionary leadership in championing this noble cause”, he said.
Emphasizing the importance of education, the Minister described it as the bedrock of societal progress.
He noted that the college would serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity for children of service members, many of whom have made great sacrifices in service to the nation.
“By investing in their future, we honor the sacrifices of their parents and strengthen the foundation of our national security.
“A well-educated generation nurtured in an environment of discipline and patriotism is critical to sustaining peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria”, he stated.
Badaru pledged the Ministry’s full support towards the timely completion of the project and called on government agencies, corporate bodies, and well-meaning individuals to contribute to the initiative.
“The Ministry of Defence stands in solidarity with DEPOWA. This college will not only alleviate educational burdens but also foster academic excellence and moral integrity among students”, he said.
He concluded by acknowledging the efforts of donors and partners, noting that their contributions would have a lasting impact.
“Your generosity will resonate through generations. Together, we shall build an institution that will produce future leaders, innovators, and patriots,” he said.
The DEPOWA College Project is expected to provide quality education tailored to the needs of children from military and police backgrounds, reinforcing national development efforts through education and support for security families.
