Gbajabiamila honoured as ‘Public Leadership ICON’, launches endowment Fund for top public administration student
Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been honoured with the prestigious “Public Leadership ICON” award by the Ph.D Class of 2023/2024 of the Department of Public Administration, Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
The award recognises Gbajabiamila’s exceptional contributions to public service over a span of more than two decades, particularly his people-oriented leadership and impactful legislative work.
The students specifically commended his pivotal role in sponsoring the Students Loan Bill and his proactive interventions that protected the rights of Nigerians abroad, especially in Ghana, China, and South Africa during his tenure as Speaker of the House.
In appreciation of the honour, Gbajabiamila has established an Endowment Fund for the Best Graduating Student in Public Administration at the university. The prize will be awarded annually for six academic sessions, running until the 2030/2031 academic year.
In a message conveyed to the Head of Department, Gbajabiamila described the initiative as part of his broader commitment to national development, academic excellence, and the grooming of future leaders in public service.
The endowment is expected to motivate students towards scholarly distinction and inspire a new generation of patriotic, principled public administrators.
