Defence Minister represents Nigeria at 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum
Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, is currently in Beijing, China, representing the country at the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, a high-level global platform for dialogue on defence and security.
The forum, which opened on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, has drawn defence ministers, military chiefs, and security experts from over 100 countries, including Singapore, Russia, France, Vietnam, Brazil, and Nigeria, alongside representatives of international and regional organisations.
This year’s forum is themed “Upholding International Order and Promoting Peaceful Development” and seeks to foster constructive engagement among nations in addressing pressing security challenges.
The programme features four plenary sessions and eight simultaneous breakout sessions covering critical issues such as global security governance, Asia-Pacific security cooperation, safeguarding international order, and strengthening regional peacebuilding efforts.
Nigeria’s participation, officials noted, underscores the country’s commitment to international cooperation on defence and security, as well as its growing role in global peace and stability initiatives.
