Fight Against Corruption: New Group Emerged
A new support group known as Good Governance Ambassadors of Nigeria, GOGAN, aimed at promoting peace and entrenching the culture of hate for corruption ahead of 2019 elections has emerged.
The founder of the organisation, Chief Felix Idiga, at the unveiling ceremony, yesterday in Abuja said the GOGAN was designed to drive unity and love among Nigerians.
He said GOGAN is a non-governmental organisation founded in line and in support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption in the country.
He also added that the group is made up of patriotic Nigerians from all walks of life committed to entrenching the culture of hate for corruption and adherence to democratic echoes in our national life.
“In additional to advocacy, GOGAN will also strive to identify public office holders who are models of Good Governance for recognition, commendation and encouragement”, Idiga said.
“We recognize that the above task is onerous and achieving it requires the collective efforts of Nigerians of good conscience, whose love and passion for a better progressive and prosperous Nigeria is not in doubt, he said.
According to the founder, the unveiling ceremony marks the beginning of a paradigm shift from a culture that celebrates illicit acquisition of wealth and carefree attitude towards public service as a norm.
“It will kick start a system that recognizes and rewards hard work, integrity and accountability. We recognize the need to identify and partner with these eminent Nigerians”, he stated.
Director Media and Publicity, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, also reaffirmed that GOGAN is advocating and promoting good governance, adding that the group is ready to partner with any individual that is committed to good governance in Nigeria.
“When the ban is lifted off the campaign, we will come to declare our support for whosoever we believe has the capacity to deliver the dividends of democracy”, Ogenyi said.
Ogenyi who is also a gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State, added that the GOGAN, will not campaign for any individual but for good governance in Nigeria.
