Badaru meets newly appointed service chiefs, reaffirms commitment to cohesive military leadership
The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, on Tuesday received the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and the three Service Chiefs in Abuja, marking their first official visit to the Ministry following their recent appointments.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Defence headquarters (Ship House), brought together the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. O.O. Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke.
Badaru, who welcomed the new defence leadership, emphasized the importance of unity, trust, and collaboration among the Armed Forces in addressing the nation’s evolving security challenges. He said the visit symbolized a new phase of strategic direction and cooperation aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s defence architecture and enhancing operational synergy across the services.
According to the minister, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remains committed to providing the necessary guidance and resources to ensure the Armed Forces fulfil their constitutional mandate of safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The courtesy visit, described as both symbolic and strategic, reaffirmed the collective resolve of the Ministry and the military hierarchy to align efforts under a shared vision of national security, peace, and stability.
