Defence Minister commends troops for securing Kaduna State, Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road
The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has praised the Nigerian military for their successful efforts in securing Kaduna State, particularly along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road.
The commendation was made during the Minister’s two-day operational visit to the region, aimed at boosting troop morale and assessing military operations.
In a statement issued by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations, the Minister lauded the troops for their resilience and commitment, which has led to significant security improvements.
“For the last six months, we have not heard of any kidnapping or ambush of civilians, aside from one or two engagements with bandits by the troops.
“This is commendable, and I thank you on behalf of Mr. President, who is aware of the good work and has asked me to encourage you to continue and end the menace of banditry and other forms of criminalities”, Abubakar said.
The Minister visited several military formations during his tour, including the Headquarters Sub-Sector 3 Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma in Birnin Gwari, the 1 Division Area of Responsibility, Pole Wire Military Camp, and the Air Training Command of the Nigerian Air Force.
Abubakar emphasized the importance of continued efforts to fight insecurity in the region, recognizing the progress already made and encouraging the troops not to relent in their mission.
“Security is paramount to the development of any nation, and what you are doing is key to Nigeria’s development. We all have to leave a peaceful and prosperous nation for our children and grandchildren,” he stated.
In response, representatives of the troops reaffirmed their commitment to the fight against insurgency and banditry.
Brigadier-General SS Shehu, Chief of Staff of Section 1, assured the Minister of their dedication to countering terrorist threats, while Lt. Col. A Abdullahi, Commanding Officer of Sub-Sector 3 Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma, vowed to maintain professionalism and ensure the continued safety of the region.
The visit highlights the government’s ongoing efforts to secure peace and stability in Kaduna and beyond.
