FG committed to tackling insecurity, Defence Minister reassures Nigerians
The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing the country’s security challenges. This assurance came during his visit to Kaduna State, where he engaged with stakeholders and unveiled strategies aimed at curbing insecurity in the region and nationwide.
In a statement issued by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations, the Minister’s remarks followed a courtesy call to Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani. During the meeting, Minister Badaru conveyed directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, focusing on consultations with the armed forces, community stakeholders, and affected regions.
“The collaborative approach is crucial to reviewing operational strategies and implementing necessary changes to bolster security,” the Minister said, outlining plans to enhance coordination among security agencies.
As part of his two-day visit, Minister Badaru is scheduled to visit the headquarters of the Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, where he aims to boost the morale of troops fighting insurgency and banditry in the region.
Governor Uba Sani praised the Federal Government’s efforts, particularly the work of the Joint Military Command, as a demonstration of its commitment to regional security. He also recommended that Operation Safe Haven be brought under the control of Kaduna’s 1 Division and acknowledged progress in Operation Safe Corridor, which focuses on the rehabilitation of repentant militants.
The Governor stressed the need for a centralized Command and Control Centre to coordinate the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.
This visit underscores the Federal Government’s focus on strengthening security across Nigeria through collaboration and strategic military operations.
