Kano Youth Leader calls for release of arrested protesters
Comrade Mujahid Zaitawa, Coordinator of the National Northern Youth Merger Group, has called on the Kano State Government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the case of over 76 young men arrested during recent protests against bad governance.
Visiting the detained youths in prison, Zaitawa emphasized the need for their swift release, highlighting the broader issues of insecurity and poverty plaguing northern Nigeria
His urgent appeal reflects a growing discontent among youth leaders regarding government accountability and the treatment of young activists
During a visit to the inmates at a local prison, Zaitawa brought food and water and urged the young men to remain positive representatives of Kano. He pledged to support the education of the 78 youths once they are released.

Zaitawa called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and secure the release of the detained youths within 48 hours, referring to them as “his children.”
He criticized the Kano State Governor for allegedly inciting the protests, which resulted in the destruction of billions in property and loss of lives.
Additionally, Zaitawa pointed fingers at other northern governors, suggesting their roles in perpetuating insecurity and poverty in the region.
His remarks underscored a growing frustration among youth leaders regarding the handling of protests and the broader socio-economic challenges facing northern Nigeria.
