Kwankwasiya lawmakers reaffirm loyalty to NNPP, deny defection rumours
Members of the House of Representatives affiliated with the Kwankwasiya Movement have publicly reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), dismissing circulating rumours suggesting they plan to defect to other political parties.
In a press statement read by Hon. Garba Diso on behalf of his colleagues, the lawmakers described the reports as “false and malicious,” urging Nigerians and party supporters to disregard the claims. The statement emphasized that such rumours are allegedly spread by political detractors threatened by the growing influence and unity of the NNPP and the Kwankwasiya Movement, particularly in Kano State and across the country.
The lawmakers clarified that their interactions with members of other political parties are purely in line with their constitutional duties and should not be misinterpreted as disloyalty. According to the statement, engaging constructively with colleagues across party lines is part of their commitment to advancing national development, promoting good governance, and fostering unity.
“Let it be clearly understood that as lawmakers, our responsibilities demand constructive engagement with colleagues across party lines. These interactions should not be misconstrued as defection, but rather reflect our commitment to bipartisan cooperation for the progress of all Nigerians,” the statement said.
The lawmakers reiterated their allegiance to the NNPP and the Kwankwasiya ideology, which they said stands for justice, equity, inclusiveness, and people-centered governance. They asserted that no amount of misinformation or propaganda would undermine their faith in the movement or its leadership.
The statement also reaffirmed the members’ commitment to promoting effective governance, quality education, accessible healthcare, youth empowerment, and improved living standards for Nigerians.
