Massive turnout as Pastor Paul Enenche leads revival crusade in Maiduguri
A sea of Christian worshippers flooded the city of Maiduguri for a revival crusade led by Dr. Paul Enenche, General Overseer of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja.
The event, themed “Ignited: A Fire of Revival in Borno State,” drew thousands from across the North East for a night of worship, prayers, and spiritual renewal.
The gathering, held in the heart of a city once ravaged by insurgency, was a significant moment for the Christian community in the region.
Worshippers sang, prayed, and listened to sermons focused on hope, unity, and faith, defying past security challenges that once made such large gatherings nearly impossible.
According to counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama, the successful and incident-free event is a testament to the improving security situation in Borno and the resilience of its Christian population.
For many attendees, the crusade symbolized a new era of religious freedom and peace in the North East.
“This is a sign that peace is returning to Borno. The presence of this large number of Christians, worshipping at night in Maiduguri without fear, is a powerful message,” said Deborah Musa, a worshipper from Yobe State.
Another attendee, Pastor James Buba, lauded the organizers for bringing hope to the region.
“This crusade has rekindled faith and strengthened the resolve of Christians to stand firm despite past challenges,” he said.
The revival took place amid ongoing discussions about religious freedom in Nigeria.
The Federal Government has recently refuted allegations that Christians are being deliberately targeted, dismissing such claims as misleading narratives aimed at influencing foreign governments, particularly the United States, to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC). Officials maintain that violence in various communities stems from criminal and terrorist activities rather than state-sponsored persecution.
Borno State has made strides toward restoring peace and religious tolerance, enabling large-scale gatherings like this to proceed without incident.
As the revival concluded, worshippers left with renewed faith and optimism, seeing the event as a milestone in the state’s journey toward lasting peace and harmony.
