Matawalle briefs President Tinubu on military successes in Sokoto State
The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, briefed President Bola Tinubu on the progress made during two recent operational tours to Sokoto State, where the Nigerian Military has recorded significant victories in the fight against insecurity.
In a statement released by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Matawalle praised the dedication and professionalism of the Nigerian Armed Forces, particularly in the North-West region.
“They will continue to play a critical role in safeguarding our nation,” Matawalle stated.
During the briefing, the Minister commended President Tinubu’s administration for its unwavering support in providing the necessary resources to maintain the military’s operational effectiveness.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the Nigerian Air Force’s capacity in the ongoing battle against terrorism and banditry.
Dr. Matawalle’s visit to Sokoto was aimed at restoring public confidence in the Federal Government’s efforts to secure the region.
Accompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff and other top military officials, the operation led to the elimination of several bandit leaders, including the notorious Halilu Buzu Sububu.
This, the Minister noted, is evidence of the government’s determination to rid the region of criminal elements.
Dr. Matawalle also urged residents of Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi states to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces as they continue their efforts to restore peace.
President Tinubu expressed his satisfaction with the report, lauding the military’s renewed determination to eradicate insecurity across the North-West and the country at large.
