Matawalle Hails Tinubu’s Reforms, Predicts 2027 Re-election Based on Performance
The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as transformative reforms across key sectors, expressing optimism that the president’s performance could earn him a second term in 2027.
Matawalle’s remarks were contained in a statement signed by Patience Ituke for the Director of Information and Public Relations.
Highlighting progress in security and defence, the minister revealed that over 8,000 terrorists and bandits were neutralized in 2024, while 11,600 criminals were arrested and more than 10,000 weapons recovered.
He also cited the establishment of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell (MAAKFC) as a significant boost to inter-agency coordination in combating kidnapping.
On the economic front, Matawalle applauded the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development, noting its potential to unlock agricultural wealth in Northern Nigeria, empower millions, and stimulate economic growth.
He said the recent drop in grain prices is an early sign of the ministry’s impact.
The minister further praised the administration’s infrastructure drive, especially in road construction and improved transportation networks in the North, which he described as vital to economic expansion.
Addressing governance, Matawalle endorsed the local government autonomy law, saying it would enhance accountability and efficiency at the grassroots level.
While backing Tinubu’s current performance, the minister’s projection of a 2027 re-election reflects his confidence in the administration’s direction and the growing public support for the president’s leadership.
