Zamfara State is witnessing a significant turnaround in its security landscape, according to the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammad Matawalle, commended the Nigerian military for its efforts in restoring peace and stability to the region.
In a remarkable demonstration of the progress achieved, over 50,000 supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered to welcome Dr. Matawalle, the immediate past governor of Zamfara, during his recent visit to the state.
The massive turnout reflects the growing confidence among residents as security conditions continue to improve.
Dr. Matawalle, determined to lead by example, chose to travel to Zamfara by road instead of air during this festive season. The symbolic decision was aimed at encouraging soldiers stationed along the route and acknowledging their tireless efforts to secure the region.
With military checkpoints established every four kilometers, residents and motorists now feel a heightened sense of safety on previously perilous routes.
Reports suggest that incidents of kidnapping and violent crimes in Zamfara and neighboring states are becoming rare occurrences. This progress is attributed to the swift and strategic operations of the Nigerian security forces.
The Honourable Minister’s road trip highlighted these advancements, emphasizing the freedom of movement that many now enjoy without fear.
Dr. Matawalle expressed deep gratitude to the military for their dedication and sacrifice in combating criminal activities and restoring normalcy.
“As we celebrate this progress, it is essential to acknowledge the sacrifices made by our armed forces.
Their bravery and dedication are pivotal in ensuring that Zamfara State continues to move towards a future characterized by safety, prosperity, and unity,” he remarked.
He further assured the public of his unwavering commitment to supporting the military’s efforts, noting that peace and security remain essential for the region’s development.
The Minister’s visit and the visible improvements in Zamfara’s security underscore a broader narrative of hope. With sustained collaboration between the government, security agencies, and local communities, the state is poised for a brighter and safer future.
