Ministry of Defence Mourns Late Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja
The Ministry of Defence, led by Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and Minister of State Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has expressed deep condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Army, the Armed Forces, and the family of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.
Describing his passing as a significant loss to the nation, the Ministry praised his contributions to national security and the military.

In a statement signed by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations, on Wednesday in Abuja, the Ministry shared its profound grief and sense of loss, noting the shock and sadness felt across the Defence community.
“The late Chief of Army Staff’s relationship with the Ministry was marked by camaraderie and cooperation,” the statement read, highlighting his commitment to his role in national defense.
Lt. General Lagbaja was known for his contributions to internal security operations throughout Nigeria, demonstrating a high level of professionalism in service.
He was respected for his dedication and commitment to his duties, earning admiration within the Armed Forces and beyond.

The Ministry affirmed that Lt. General Lagbaja’s absence would be felt not only by his family and colleagues in the military but also across the nation.
