Nasarawa Setting Proper Foundation for Science Education
The Nasarawa State government is setting up science schools to provide solid foundation for students willing to study science related courses at tertiary institutions.
Governor Abdullahi Sule stated this during a courtesy visit by the Nasarawa State Medical and Allied Students Association at Government House Lafia, Tuesday.
The Governor says the government is committed to provision of Solid educational foundation in order to produce competent hands that will man health facilities and industries that will be established in state.
He adds that “We have finished Lafia Science School, we are getting ready to equip it and we will go to the next one in Akwanga zone and another in Keffi zone so that you will have strong foundation to compete with those coming from other states”.
Engineer Sule encouraged them to take there planned outreach programmes seriously as it gives them more practical training hence the need to consult with other experts on how to achieve success of the medical outreach.
He enjoined them to shun ethnic, religious and political differences in carrying out their programmes rather they should always see themselves as indigenes of Nasarawa State.
Governor Sule maintains that he will be excited to one day see members of the association who are students or graduates from Nasarawa state University Keffi and/or Federal University Lafia.
“Am looking forward to situation where I will see you treating some of us rather than traveling abroad to get medical attention”. Engr Sule adds.
On his part, leader of the delegation, Kabiru Abdulkarim Obose while commending the efforts of the Governor in enhancing the standard of education in the state said they were in Government House Lafia to show their solidarity to the Governor and the government of the state.
Kabiru Obose explained that in a bid to support the fight against the dreaded coronavirus, they have visited some ministries, agencies and health facilities in the state.
The association is working toward carrying out a yearly medical outreach in collaboration with other medical practitioners in the state with emphasis on hepatitis and HIV.
