Nigeria-Germany defence ties strengthened with new project circle
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, has expressed optimism that the latest phase of projects introduced by the German Technical Advisory Group (GTAG) will further bolster the defence relationship between Nigeria and Germany.
Dr. Kana made this known during a meeting with a high-level GTAG delegation led by Mr. Marcus Ohm at the Ministry’s headquarters, Ship House, in Abuja.
The statement was shared by the ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike.

The Defence Headquarters, he said, has been tasked with identifying and executing projects under this framework to ensure better planning and implementation.
Dr. Kana also underscored the importance of modernizing the Nigerian Armed Forces through enhanced security intelligence sharing, equipment upgrades, and capacity building.
He emphasized the critical role of involving Nigerian personnel in project planning and execution to ensure sustainability.
Mr. Marcus Ohm expressed satisfaction with Nigeria’s progress, stating, “The project is going in the right direction.”
He reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting successful project delivery.
