Onnoghen suspension: Chief Omirhobo expresses dissatisfaction on court ruling
A Lagos-based constitutional lawyer, Chief Malcolm Omirhobo, has described the ruling on suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen as funny.
Speaking with our Correspondent, Chief Omirhobo said that the ruling at Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday was ridiculous.
Chief Omirhobo had approached the court to decide whether due process was observed in the suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen as Chief Justice of Nigeria.
He also wanted the court to decide whether in interpreting Sections153(1) (i) (2), 158 , 231(1)(4), 292(1) (a)(i) and part I (I) of the third schedule of the 1999 constitution, the suspension and removal of the CJN was in compliance with due process of the law
He sought for the court’s decision on whether the appointment of an acting CJN to replace Onnoghen was in compliance with due process of law, and whether it was proper, lawful, legal, constitutional and democratic.
“There is an infraction on the constitution of this country. We are saying this office is being vacated and used by somebody who is unlawfully fixed there and the court is saying it is not an urgent matter, is ridiculous and funny”, he said.
The human right activist also stated that the matter is about social justice and establishment of good governance in Nigeria.
He insists that the Justice Onnoghen was suspended based on a ghost motion expertise.
The case was however adjourned to March 5, for further hearing.
