President Tinubu commands military to end insecurity in Zamfara, North-West Nigeria
In a determined push to tackle insecurity, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a directive for Nigerian troops to eliminate the threat of banditry in Zamfara State and across the North-West region.
This mandate was delivered by the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, during his visit to Zamfara State to assess the progress of Operation Hadarin Daji’s Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma North West.
The directive, as conveyed in a statement by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations, underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring peace in the North-West.
Minister Abubakar emphasized President Tinubu’s deep concern for the region’s security and conveyed the President’s charge to the troops to fully eradicate the insecurity plaguing the area.
“President Tinubu is deeply concerned about the security situation in the North-West, particularly in Zamfara, and has instructed the troops to eradicate insecurity in the region,” Abubakar said.
During his briefing with military personnel, the Minister expressed satisfaction with their readiness and urged them to intensify their efforts. “We will finish them,” he declared, encouraging community members to cooperate and pray for the troops’ success.
In an impassioned address, Abubakar rallied the troops, asking, “Are you ready to end insecurity in Zamfara State? Your dedication and commitment to winning this fight are crucial.” He assured the soldiers that he would report their renewed vigor directly to President Tinubu.
The Minister’s visit included inspections at key military sites, including Combat 2, 17 Brigade along the Tsafe-Shema-Gusau road, and the Forward Operation Base of the Joint Task Force. He praised the troops for their efforts in securing the road, noting a significant improvement in safety over the last 48 hours.
“Your dedication has yielded positive results, particularly with no reported attacks on this critical route,” he noted. “We encourage you to intensify your efforts, ensuring this road remains safe and free for motorists.”
Abubakar also met with Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal to discuss the coordinated military and state government approach. Governor Lawal emphasized the State’s proactive efforts in targeting bandits directly in their hideouts and expressed optimism for continued collaboration with federal forces.
“We are facing significant security challenges in Zamfara State, but with the support of the military, we will take the fight to the bandits and finish them,” Governor Lawal affirmed.
As the new phase of Operation Fansan Yamma North West unfolds, both the Federal and State governments remain steadfast in their resolve to restore peace and stability in Zamfara and the entire North-West region.
