Reps urge FG to provide medical and humanitarian Assistance to victims motor accident in Kano State
The House of Representatives, Tuesday, called on the Federal Government to provide medical and humanitarian assistance to victims of motor accident at Kwanar Dumawa in Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency in Kano State.
This resolution followed a motion by Honourable Sani Ma’aruf Nass, member representing Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency in the green chamber.
Hon. Ma’aruf noted that on 3 March, 2021 a motor accident involving a trailer truck, eighteen sitter bus and golf occurred at Kwanar Dumawa in Minjibir Local Government Area where the trailer truck lost control and ran into two vehicles (a bus and a golf) killing more than 12 passengers and 24 sustaining various degree of injuries and fractures.
He also noted that the accident affected traders carrying out their businesses on the road side leaving 11 dead and many injured, increasing the death toll to 23.
The lawmaker is concerned that over 40 victims mostly rural dwellers are currently hospitalized in Dambatta and Minjibir General Hospitals while those with serious medical complications are admitted at Murtala Specialist and Aminu Kano Teaching Hospitals in Kano.
The house, therefore, resolved to urge the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide medical assistance to hospitalized victims to facilitate their recovery;
And to provide any other form of humanitarian assistance to the families of the deceased victims to ameliorate their grief.
