Imo State Govt. Declares War On armed robbers, hoodlums in Owerri

The Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha-led administration in Imo State, has reiterated its commitment in ridding Owerri, capital city of the State, of armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, among other criminal activities, in order to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties of Imo citizens, and other Nigerians resident in State.
Speaking to news to newsmen in his office in Owerri on Monday, the Special Adviser (SA) on Security to the governor, Mr. Raymond Nkemdirim, hinted that the government of Imo State, recently ordered a raid on criminal hide-outs at Douglas Road, Owerri, as the massive operation against the criminals was extended to the Emmanuel College junction, down to St. Paul’s, and later to the IMSU junction (front and back gates) of the state university.
According to him, the man-hunt operation against criminals on August 30, 2019 by the state government was quite an impressive effort by Governor Emeka Ihedioha in tackling crime, and associated insecurity, even as he maintained that, security is a primary responsibility of government.
Nkemdirim also informed that 14 suspects were arrested with substances suspected to be ‘Indian Hemp’ recovered from them, during the raid by joint-security operatives in the state.
