Matawalle, Sokoto inspect NAF facility development in Sokoto State
In a clear demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to bolstering national security, the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, and the Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, jointly inspected the development of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) 119 Composite Group (CG) in Sokoto State.
The visit, aimed at assessing the ongoing construction, underscores efforts to strengthen security in the North-West region.
The inspection was confirmed in a statement released by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations, on Sunday.
During the visit, Matawalle commended the professionalism of NAF personnel, recognizing their vital role in protecting the nation.
“The Nigerian Air Force continues to play a critical role in safeguarding our nation. The Federal Government will ensure you have the necessary resources to maintain operational efficiency, especially in countering security threats in the North-West,” Matawalle said.
He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to expanding the capacity of NAF as part of its broader strategy to tackle insecurity in the region.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the Federal and State Governments in addressing security concerns. “Sokoto State stands firmly with the Armed Forces.
“We are committed to providing all necessary support to ensure peace and stability for our people,” the Governor stated.
He also praised Minister Matawalle for his courageous efforts in addressing insecurity in the region, noting that the Minister had ventured into previously inaccessible areas, restoring them to local residents.
The Honourable Minister and the Governor were briefed on the progress of the NAF 119 Composite Group project by the Unit Commander.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Brigadier General I.A Ajose, along with other top military officials, were present during the inspection.
