Police nabs herbalist and five others for robbery
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a herbalist and five other persons in connection with robbery attack on residents of No 1 Akorede Estate in Olomoore adjacent to the Crescent University Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The suspects – Toxin Adebanjo, Toheed Ogundare, Ahmed Oloyede, Emmanuel Ogunshina popularly called Emma SARS, Adebiso Remilekun and Sukanmi Ogundimu (Herbalist) broke into the residence in the midnight and attacked the occupants with cutlass, inflicting various degree of injuries on one Alfa Rifhat Ashraf.
The suspects also dispossessed Rifhat and his wife of five different types of handsets, one laptop, cash sum of N60, 000 and other valuables before leaving the victims.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a release on Tuesday, said following intelligence gathering and technical investigation conducted by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Lafenwa Division, Muraina Ayilara, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), and her team, one member of the gang was arrested.
Abimbola, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said further that the arrested gang member led the Operatives to the house of an herbalist in Olomore area of Abeokuta which serves as hideout to the gang.
According to him, upon cordoning the building off the building, the gangs attacked the Operatives with cutlass and in the ensuing hostility, one of the suspects was shot, and five others arrested, along with the herbalist.
Abimbola listed a laptop, five different types of handsets, one cutlass and charms as items recovered from suspects but the gang leader who is popularly known as ‘’AK” escaped.
The victims have identified some of the arrested culprit as those who attacked and robbed them at home while the Commissioner of Police Keneth Ebrimson has given the directive that the suspect be transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation.
