Land speculator declares war on Police over alleged extortion in Lagos
Lagos State land speculator, Saheed Mosadoluwa, also known as Ibile of Harmony Estate, Ibeju-Lekki, has publicly accused the police of extortion and harassment in a heated social media outburst.
Mosadoluwa, in a video posted on TikTok, claimed that police officers attempted to extort N150 million from him on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, over a land dispute in the Ibeju-Lekki area.
Mosadoluwa alleged that officers from Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, falsely accused him of kidnapping, gun running, and murder, declaring him wanted without giving him a chance to defend himself.
“Everybody wants to milk Ibile. I will not pay the police one kobo again because I have resolved to go to court,” he vowed.
In his rant, Mosadoluwa criticized the police for disrespecting the rule of law, stating, “Did the IGP send you to go and violate the law? Did he send you to negotiate land?”
He claimed that officers told him that if he paid N150 million, his problems with the police would be resolved.
However, Mosadoluwa maintained that he had no issues with the police or the IGP, suggesting that his character was being tarnished for financial gain.
In response to Mosadoluwa’s accusations, police sources dismissed his claims as fabrications.
According to the authorities, Mosadoluwa was declared wanted after repeatedly failing to respond to invitations to answer to allegations against him.
The police stated that Mosadoluwa had threatened officers and even assaulted some who had previously visited Ibeju-Lekki to investigate claims of land grabbing and threats to life.
The police revealed that Mosadoluwa had a history of conflicts with landowners, including a violent encounter with the Oni-Orisan family.
The family accused him of kidnapping and assaulting their matriarch, Chief Mrs. Dupe Oni-Orisan Damazio, during a land dispute in July 2024.
In a petition to the police, the family alleged that Mosadoluwa, along with armed thugs, had terrorized landowners in the area for years, claiming that the police had been complicit in his activities.
Meanwhile, police authorities are reportedly investigating Mosadoluwa’s allegations of officer involvement in the land scandal.
His public threats have drawn the attention of higher authorities, and efforts are underway to address the claims.
When approached for comments, the police spokesperson for Zone 2, Onikan, SP Ayuba Umma, was unavailable, while Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, declined to comment, directing inquiries back to Zone 2.
The investigation into the land dispute and the alleged police misconduct remains ongoing.
