FG reaffirms commitment to military health, training infrastructure
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, has restated the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to improving healthcare delivery and training infrastructure across the Nigerian Armed Forces.
This assurance was conveyed during his working visit to key military facilities in Kaduna, where he inspected the newly completed 100-bed Medical Interns Accommodation Facility at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital (NARH) and evaluated ongoing exercises at the Special Operations Forces Training Ground, Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Camp Kabala.
In a statement signed by Ebah Elvis Jiyovwi, Senior Information Officer, for the Director of Information and Public Relations, the Ministry described these visits as a testament to its resolve to boost both welfare and operational readiness of military personnel through sustained infrastructure development.
At the 44 NARH, Ambassador Aduda toured the new accommodation complex tailored for medical interns. The facility, designed with comfort and sustainability in mind, boasts en-suite rooms, modern recreational lounges, common areas, and an alternative solar power system to ensure uninterrupted utilities.
Addressing journalists after the tour, Aduda expressed satisfaction with the facility’s quality and emphasized its potential to enhance the morale and effectiveness of medical professionals in the military.
“By investing in quality living conditions, we empower our interns to focus on their responsibilities without distraction, ultimately improving healthcare outcomes for our gallant men and women in uniform,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of reliable infrastructure—particularly consistent power supply and well-equipped communal areas—in fostering a safe and supportive environment for personnel in training.
In a related engagement, the Permanent Secretary proceeded to the Special Operations Forces Training Ground at Camp Kabala, where he assessed ongoing tactical exercises. He was received by the Camp Commandant, Major General FS Etim, and conducted an extensive review of the training facilities and the conduct of personnel.
Impressed by the level of professionalism and preparedness demonstrated by the troops, Aduda commended the Nigerian Army for maintaining high standards in elite combat training.
He was accompanied on the visits by top officials including Dr. Sunday Attah, Director of Army Affairs at the Ministry of Defence; Brigadier General GS Ogoh, Director of Medical Services at the 44 NARH; and other senior Ministry representatives.
The visits, according to the Ministry, align with its broader strategy to strengthen the Armed Forces by investing in critical infrastructure and human capital development, thereby ensuring Nigeria’s military remains well-equipped to address both current and emerging security challenges.
