Defence Minister Matawalle condemns Amaechi’s alleged incitement, issues stern warning
The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has condemned recent comments made by former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of inciting violence and unrest in Nigeria.
In a statement, Matawalle urged Amaechi to refrain from making inflammatory remarks that threaten national peace and stability.
The statement, signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, expressed the Defence Minister’s deep concern over the potential dangers of Amaechi’s rhetoric.
“It is both reckless and irresponsible for a former public servant of Amaechi’s standing to incite Nigerians against their own government,” Matawalle said.
He emphasized that at a time when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is implementing reforms to address the nation’s challenges, such remarks are uncalled for and harmful.
Matawalle highlighted President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring peace and security in the country and warned that any attempts to destabilize Nigeria through incitement would not be tolerated.
“We will not allow anyone to fuel violence or manipulate the situation for selfish political gain,” he stressed, issuing a final warning to Amaechi and his associates.
The Defence Minister further criticized Amaechi for his comments, urging him to support the government’s efforts to move the country forward instead of engaging in “myopic assertions.”
Matawalle reiterated that the government’s intentions for the Nigerian people are genuine and should not be cast in doubt by misleading claims.
